ABUJA, NIGERIA — At the 2026 APC National Convention in Eagle Square, Abuja, a key event setting the stage for Nigeria’s 2027 elections, Princess Olatorera Majekodunmi-Oniru called for leadership that prioritises competence and citizens’ welfare.
Her remarks come amid ongoing public debate about internal party democracy and the credibility of candidate selection processes in Nigeria.
Addressing delegates and party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Princess urged that candidate selection focus on meritocracy and selfless service rather than political convenience.
On speculation about her own political ambitions, she said:
“It seems to be a selection process, not an election. I am committed to a Greater Nigeria that creates opportunities for the millions, not just the elite.”
She added:
“Leaders must act selflessly and deliver real results. Nigerians deserve better, and better we must always strive for.”
Her remarks reflect a growing demand for ethical, results-driven governance. Observers note that voices like hers are helping shape public conversations around accountability and inclusivity in Nigerian politics.
